More than 375 friends and supporters of Flight Path Museum at LAX turned out on October 3 for “A Global Affaire,” the 24th annual fundraiser for the museum celebrating the glamour and excitement of flight around the world.

Upon red carpet arrival, guests enjoyed a champagne welcome, LAX behind-the-scenes bus tours, exciting silent auction and raffle items, flight simulator demonstrations and a selection of international appetizers.

Guests gathered in a special pavilion on the LAX tarmac with sunset views of the tower, Theme building and aircraft landing and taking off, while hearing from keynote speaker Deborah Flint, Los Angeles World Airports CEO, with an update on the $14 billion LAX modernization program. The evening included a gourmet dinner, award of more than $17,000 in competitive scholarships to promising aviation and aerospace students, and presentation of the museum’s coveted Guiding Light Award to Beverly and Vincent Migliazzo, longtime Flight Path benefactors. The Honorable Mike Bonin, Los Angeles City Council member CD 11, also presented a special commendation to the couple.

It was a record-breaking year for the museum – both GALA attendance and the amount of scholarships awarded both set new records. All proceeds from the Gala benefit the museum’s mission of preserving aviation and aerospace heritage and supporting educational programs to encourage youth to pursue careers in the industry. Through increased Flight Path STEM focused outreach programs, the museum serves as a pipeline for future young professionals to enter careers in all areas of the industry.

“We are most grateful to everyone, including our major supporters, who collectively helped make our Gala a great success,” said Agnes Huff, PhD, Flight Path Museum President of the Board. “We also owe a major debt of gratitude to the many generous individuals, businesses and organizations who supported us with tables, silent auction and raffle items. We are grateful for Brett Snyder, the popular “Cranky Flier” blogger, who served as our emcee, and Gala Co-Chairs Robert Acherman, Carly Allen and Heidi Brown, for their leadership and our entire Flight Path team.”

Global Traveler magazine was presenting sponsor. First-class sponsors included American Airlines, Delta Airlines, The Drollinger Family Charitable Foundation, HNTB Corp., Landrum & Brown, Los Angeles World Airports and The Private Suite at LAX. Premier class sponsors were Agnes Huff Communications Group, ARSAC, Robert and Chris Acherman, Heidi Brown, Kevin Burciaga, Flying Tigers Club, Sarah Gaspar, JetStream Ground Service, Kevin & Nancy Niles, Ethel Pattison, Larry Plotkin, Specialty Restaurants, Turner and UPS.
